Do Nothing Wrap Up
'DO NOTHING' Tee
Story behind the co-lab: It’s all about the empowering force of a print on a tee.
The 'DO NOTHING' Tees work as a great conversation starter.
To Do Nothing is cool? Damn right it is!
We are all guilty of being busy. Busy working, busy doing the chores, busy this, busy that, the glorification of a busy lifestyle.
This is something that we have recognised in ourselves and need to remember that it is actually important to do nothing. We believe it is actually more important to do nothing than to be busy.
So this is the concept we have given to 8 artists to portray this message what ever way they have dreamt up to be printed onto tees; with the idea to start a conversation with the wider world and remind each other of the importance of taking time out to literally do nothing.
We love the idea of using clothes as a way to spread a message, art and activism meet.
All Tee's that was sold, profits went to the Artists.
All tees are hand printed in my bedroom, so each tee is a unique piece and might look slightly different.
"I think we complicate the task of being human and forget about simplicity.
To me, doing nothing is no longer attached to guilt or laziness, instead the complete opposite. I am proud of the days I spend challenging my position in our fast paced society by slowing down and giving time to what we all seem too busy for, nothing."
"Doing Nothing for me is going for a morning swim with my girlfriend then walking to the bakery. Or sitting on a patio with some beers, a mate and music. Doing nothing is everything."
"Cosmic Coffin Ride
While everything around you is constantly busy doing the cosmic dance, sometimes you need to stop to take it ALL in. Do yourself a favour and DO NOTHING (sometimes). Bonus points if you go out and do it in nature, but remember to leave it as you left it (or better)."
"I think it is weird that we are all kind of bent on this idea of having to do something. All of the time. I mean it is totally ok – but I also believe that it is OK to acknowledge that it is OK to do nothing, too.
I remember being in high school maths trying to wrap my head around the binary numeral system, and the teacher came out with something along the lines of “everything is either something or nothing; but even if it is nothing, it is still something.” Who knew maths could be so profound. I walked away from that class with a slightly different view of the world.
I feel like it is nice to apply this motto to various elements of life. To remember that there isn’t really any glory in being busy just for the sake of it, that we are allowed to enjoy the feeling of doing nothing. I think it feels nice sometimes to take a step back, zoom out, and acknowledge the small seemingly ‘nothing’ things as ‘something’ – and seeing the big ‘somethings’ as the ‘nothings’ they most likely are.
"Life in the slow line. Slowing down is radical in these days and age. Self-satisfaction, doing nothing and being. My own idle time feels like a freedom by default. Going nowhere to see clearly."
"I like to think I’m pretty good at doing nothing and that I’m most likely a better person for it. It’s important to give your sub-conscious a chance to do its thing, go for a walk, a surf or my favourite, take a god damn, feel good nap. It’s in those moments of unfocused relaxation we have our best, most honest ideas. "
"The outer side
Seemingly human figures
Off nature build
Little do we know
A Train to elsewhere
Le dernier homme
Into its reflection
A state of non-desire
Feel the free breath of our life
"Do Nothing for me is about switching off, taking time out to relax; whether that’s laying on the beach, having a beer with a friend, going for a paddle just to get wet, getting lost in music or smoking a joint and watching the sun go down. Doing nothing is essential to your wellbeing, we should all regularly take a moment to just do nothing and chill out."
