Surf Trip Essentials: Mid-Winter Mid North Coast Edition
Come mid-winter, the chill sets in and suddenly we’re all dreaming of salty escapes. A little surf trip is the perfect antidote, and if you’re on the East Coast of Australia like us, there’s no better place than the iconic Crescent Head. A slow, sleepy town with rolling headlands and long peeling point breaks that stretch for days - it’s a place that feels like stepping into a slower rhythm of life.
On her latest adventure, Abbi takes us along on her Crescent Head surf trip and shares her go-to essentials and must-do moments.
Surf Trip Checklist + Loose Plan
Pack the car and strap your favourite boards to the roof (because one is never enough).
Coffee + snacks + your favourite playlist are non-negotiables.
Hit the highway on route to meet your best mates - the kind of crew that makes the trip, no matter the surf conditions.
Listen to a podcast by water people - a little inspiration for the waves ahead.
First stop: the breaks. Check the points and beaches until you find your wave, then surf for hours - because that’s what you came for.
Post-surf BBQs with friends are practically tradition.
Sunset (and if you’re lucky, moonrise) from the point - it’s a magic show you won’t forget.
Surf. Surf. Surf.
In between sessions: snooze in the sun, read, stretch, repeat.
Play dress-ups in the new Atmosea range (because who doesn’t love a camp-style fashion show?).
Stop in at Cheetah Five for the best cappuccino post-surf, and don’t forget to browse their beautiful little shop.
Wake up, surf again, and viola!
A trip like this isn’t just about waves - it’s about good friends, good food, and plenty of time to slow down.
