A Weekend of Waves, Women, Good Times for Seas the Day Festival!

 What a weekend.

We packed the boards, loaded up the car, and made the short trip up to Kingscliff with the Atmosea gurfs for a little weekend getaway at the NRMA Insurance Seas the Day Festival.

The surf was pretty onshore out the front, but thankfully there were plenty of little corners to explore. We hunted down some fun waves, shared delicious food, listened to inspiring conversations, and laughed our way through the weekend with some of our favourite people.

We've all been busy little bees lately, and those easy afternoon surfs together have become fewer and farther between. It was such a lovely reminder of how important it is to carve out time for the people you love and the things that fill your cup.

Here's a little look at our weekend.

Our Home Away From Home

We arrived at The Blue Motel and immediately started frothing. Our little beach shack had all the nostalgic holiday vibes, a big backyard for afternoon hangs, and quickly became home for the weekend.

First things first, we unloaded the boards, checked the beach conditions, and settled into holiday mode. We kicked things off with a little happy hour in the front yard before heading out for dinner.

That evening we were spoiled by the team at Lola’s Mexican, who hooked us up with the most delicious Mexican feast. We laughed, shared stories, and soaked up the holiday vibes. Maria & Cass, who had been attending a Seas the Day panel dinner up the road, joined us afterwards and we all headed home happy, full, and ready for a big weekend ahead.

Sunrise, Coffee & Festival Day One

After one of the cosiest sleeps, we woke feeling refreshed and ready to go. Outside our villa was the cutest little coffee caravan serving delicious coffee from Lulu, and back at the house we had all the breakfast essentials waiting for us, fresh sourdough, avocado, eggs, and plenty of good fuel for the day ahead.

We squeezed in a quick surf check before heading down to the festival for one of the most inspiring workshops of the weekend.

On a side note we got to test ride some rad surfboards this weekend by @avalon_starick  and chat surfboards with female shaper.

Laughing Lines

We had the privilege of attending Cait Miers workshop about her incredible project, Laughing Lines.

The movement encourages women to remove their makeup, have their portrait taken, and celebrate their natural beauty. It’s about embracing ourselves exactly as we are and challenging unrealistic beauty standards.

Atmosea is proud to stand behind this project wholeheartedly. We believe there is something incredibly powerful about women showing up authentically and supporting each other to do the same.

If you haven’t already, we encourage you to get involved, have your photo taken, and support this beautiful movement.

Team Challenge Chaos

Then it was time for the Team Challenge.

To be honest, we weren’t exactly the most organised team. We were running late, had no idea what time we were competing, and were generally a little bit chaotic.

Luckily we stopped by the juice bar and someone casually mentioned, “You’re on in 15 minutes.”

Cue absolute panic.

We sprinted to grab our boards and raced down to the beach. At one point we all ran at the same time instead of one at a time, proving that competition strategy is perhaps not our strongest skill.

The best part wasn’t the competition itself, it was meeting all the incredible women, sharing laughs, cheering each other on, and connecting through our love of surfing.

To our surprise, we made it through to the finals on Sunday.

Sunset Sessions & Greek Feasts

After the competition we grabbed lunch from an amazing local salad bar Mixing Colours and enjoyed a healthy reset before heading back to the festival.

One of the highlights was watching our beautiful friend Mylee Grace perform alongside her mum as the sun started to set. The atmosphere was pure magic.

That evening we headed to The Greek Taverna in Kingscliff, where we were completely spoiled with delicious food. We ate until we couldn’t possibly fit another bite in and then happily rolled ourselves back into bed, ready for day two.

Farm Breakfasts & Spa Bliss

Sunday began with breakfast on the farm and co.

We wandered through the grounds, meeting pigs, chickens, and all kinds of beautiful animals. There were flowers everywhere, fruit trees bursting with mandarins, chillies growing in the garden, and the most peaceful countryside atmosphere.

The breakfast was incredible, the coffee was even better, and it was the perfect way to start the day.

Afterwards, we treated ourselves to a wellness session at Spa Salt complete with saunas and ice baths. By the time we left, we felt refreshed, energised, and ready to tackle the finals.

Women Supporting Women

Back at the festival, the surf was absolutely beautiful, clean little waves rolling through and plenty of smiling faces on the beach.

Before the finals, Maria joined the "From Idea to Icon" panel to share the Atmosea journey, balancing motherhood with business, and building a brand rooted in community and authenticity.

Public speaking can be intimidating, but after years of practise and a supportive crowd I'm starting to feel more comfortable. I might actually be starting to enjoy it?

There is something special about sharing stories with a room full of women who genuinely want to see each other succeed.

We Won!

Then it was time.

The Team Challenge Finals.

Boards waxed. Spirits high. Energy levels through the roof.

And somehow, after all the chaos, confusion, and last-minute scrambling…

We won.

The excitement was unreal.

But what will stay with us most was the incredible community of women the festival brought together.

From first-time competitors to seasoned surfers, women of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds filled the beach, sharing waves, cheering each other on, and celebrating a genuine love of surfing.

There's something pretty special about seeing so many women come together around the ocean. It was inspiring, uplifting, and a beautiful reminder that there's room for everyone in the lineup.

Until Next Time

A huge thank you to everyone who made Seas the Day such a special experience.

To the organisers, volunteers, athletes, speakers, and every woman who showed up and shared her energy, thank you.

And thank you to Tweed Tourism and all the incredible local businesses that welcomed us throughout the weekend. From beautiful accommodation and unforgettable meals to wellness experiences and festival magic, you helped create a weekend we’ll never forget.

Women’s surfing is stepping into an exciting new chapter, and we’re so grateful to have been part of it.

Until next time, Kingscliff.
