10 Years Of Atmosea - MAKING TIME

Ten Years of Atmosea

To celebrate ten years of Atmosea, we gathered many of the familiar faces who’ve been part of the journey — surfer friends, collaborators, staff, friends, and family.

We had plans for lunch and celebrations, but when a beautiful day and dreamy little waves rolled through, the surfers went surfing. And we wouldn't want it any other way.

We drifted between the ocean and the shore all afternoon, sharing waves, food, and time together under the frangipani tree.

As the sun softened, we sang happy birthday to Maria,  ten years of Atmosea, built on community, creativity, and doing things our own way.

In reflecting on the past ten years, where we began, where we’ve arrived, and what this wild business journey has taught us — one thing has become clear.

Time is everything.

Not the rushed kind. Not the always-busy kind. But the slow, intentional moments. The ones spent in the ocean, around the camp fire, under a tree, with the people who make you feel most like yourself.

So we wanted to share something of a manifesto. A quiet reminder, both to ourselves and to you — to make time for the things that matter. To protect it. To honour it. To remember that this precious life is not something to rush through, but something to be lived fully, and well.

Atmosea — Making Time

Making Time is an act of defiance.

A quiet refusal to measure a meaningful life by productivity alone.

A decision to value enjoyment, fulfilment and love — even when the world tells us there’s no room for it.

As we grow older, time gets tighter.

Work expands. Families need us. Responsibility creeps into every corner of our lives.

And somewhere along the way, creativity is pushed aside — labelled indulgent, frivolous, unproductive, or only worthy if it can be monetised.

We don’t believe that. Nup, nope, noway.

Creativity is not reserved for a talented few. It’s not something you grow out of.

And it’s not less important than work. Creativity is how we make sense of the world.

It’s how we tell stories, build culture, connect with each other, and feel alive.

Atmosea began ten years ago as a creative outlet — a place for play, expression, and surf-led joy. What started with more free time and fewer responsibilities has grown alongside families, careers, and businesses. With that growth came pressure. More managing. More worrying. More hours leaking into home time.

And less space for joy.

So we are choosing to make time.

Surfing remains one of the few places adults are still allowed to play — not because it’s easy, but because it removes us from everything else. No roles. No job titles. No digital noise. Just immersion, movement, and presence.

Surfing has brought us together, but maybe your version lives elsewhere — in dancing, art-making, music, gardening, cooking, or dreaming.

Whatever it is — hold onto it.

Especially for mothers. Especially for people with “serious” jobs. Especially when guilt creeps in and tells us we should be doing something more useful.

Because making time for creativity isn’t selfish.

It’s essential.

It brings joy.

And joy is one of the most meaningful things we can offer our families, our communities, and ourselves.
